Medicaid Eligibility: Single Individuals

Income limit is $2,022 per month or less. Interest income, veterans’ benefits, annuity payments, dividends, pensions (including Civil Service), and Social Security are all part of income.

The Medicare Part B insurance premium (up to $96.40 for 2011), which is automatically deducted from Social Security benefits, is included as part of income.

The asset limit for nonexempt items is $2,000 or less.

Medicaid Eligibility: Married Couples

The community spouse if entitled to retain assets as a “community spouse resource allowance” or “CSRA.” The CSRA is $109,560.

Minimum Monthly Maintenance Needs Allowance (adjustment July 1)

  • Basic allowance $1,822
  • Excess shelter $547
  • But MMMNA cannot exceed maximum of $2,739
